End of Life Care
When we can see that our lives are coming to an end, it can be tough to talk about–and even tougher to go through. But with help, it’s a reality we can all find the strength and wisdom to face.
An end-of-life doula is a trained nonmedical professional who provides emotional, physical, and educational support for someone nearing death. They can be considered a mentor for the final chapter of life.
An end-of-life doula can be on call, do overnight care or regular scheduled visits. A big part of what an end-of-life doula does is to help dying people and their families express their fears, concerns, and grief–keeping communication lines open and encouraging feelings to be expressed. We also give families, spouses, friends and primary caregivers a chance to take a night off to take care of themselves.
Sometimes we’re there just to hold your hand and make you a cup of tea.
